𝗘𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗧𝗘𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗠𝗨𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗦 over the death of 21-year-old Jongkuch Achieu after an alleged violent incident connected to a house party at Bahrs Scrub, south of Brisbane.
The latest arrests mean eight people aged between 17 and 19 are now accused of murder in relation to the young man’s death.
Police say Achieu was found unconscious with critical head injuries in a nearby street after officers were called to reports of an out-of-control house party in the early hours of July 26.
He remained in hospital for several days before dying from his injuries on August 1.
𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗
Police were called to Discovery Boulevard at Bahrs Scrub at about 2.15am on July 26 following reports of a large disturbance associated with a house party.
According to police, officers arrived to find significant damage in the area, including damaged vehicles and damage to a nearby property.
As people left the scene, police were directed to Orchard Avenue, where a 21-year-old Redbank Plains man had been found unconscious.
The man, later identified as Jongkuch Achieu, had suffered critical head injuries.
Emergency crews transported him to hospital in a critical condition. Despite medical treatment, he died on August 1.
His death resulted in a homicide investigation involving detectives from the Logan Criminal Investigation Branch and the Homicide Investigation Unit.
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗠𝗘𝗗
The first major round of murder charges was announced on August 6.
Police charged four young men — three aged 18 and one aged 19 — with murder.
Those charged included Joshua Jackson John Jirima, 18, Amnaud Nduwayo, 19, Kandour Khalil Tagelsir, 18, and Sunday Obol, 19.
Obol was also charged with a number of additional alleged offences, including intimidation, unlawful stalking, robbery, extortion and deprivation of liberty.
A 22-year-old man was separately charged with an offence relating to an order to provide information necessary to access electronically stored information.
That person is not one of the eight people currently facing a murder charge.
𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗦
The investigation took another major step on Sunday, August 9, when detectives arrested four more males at Morayfield.
The latest group consists of three 18-year-old men and a 17-year-old boy.
Each has been charged with murder.
The arrests bring the total number of people facing murder charges over Achieu’s death to eight.
The latest accused are expected to appear before Queensland courts, while proceedings involving those charged earlier are also continuing.
Because one of the accused is 17, restrictions can apply to the publication of identifying information. NTK NEWS is therefore not identifying that accused person.

Queensland Police have thanked residents, community leaders and representatives who assisted investigators and encouraged people with information to come forward.
The incident began around a property being used for short-stay accommodation before violence allegedly spilled into the surrounding area.
Police have described extensive damage to vehicles and property at the scene.
The homicide investigation remains active as the cases involving those charged begin moving through the Queensland court system.
The number of people now accused makes this a significant investigation, but the laying of charges does not establish guilt.
