Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the military to respond forcefully after four Israeli soldiers were killed in southern Lebanon.
According to Israeli statements, around 80 Hezbollah-linked targets were struck across Lebanon, with Israel claiming that “dozens of militants” were killed in the attacks.
The escalation comes after a deadly strike reportedly hit an Israeli tank crew, killing all four soldiers on board. Israel says it is still investigating whether the attack involved a drone, anti-tank missile, or another explosive device.
The wider concern is that Lebanon is again being pulled into a dangerous cycle of retaliation. One deadly attack has now triggered a large wave of Israeli strikes, raising fears that the border conflict could expand even further.
