D Vance has delivered one of the sharpest public warnings yet to Israeli officials after criticism of the United States and Donald Trump’s Iran deal.
His message was blunt: Israel should think carefully before attacking the only powerful ally it still has.
Vance said that if he were sitting inside the Israeli cabinet, he “might not be attacking” America, especially when so much of Israel’s defensive power has been built by American hands and paid for by American taxpayers.
That statement lands hard because it exposes a growing crack in the U.S.–Israel relationship. For years, Israeli leaders have counted on Washington for military, financial and diplomatic protection.
